"It Depends" Dog and Animal Behavior Solutions Seminar
with Carolyn Barney KPA-‐CTP CNWI
Location: Dogs Learning Center, 577 Main Street, Hudson MA
June 29-30, 2013
9AM - 5PM
A 2 day in depth look at how to use the Science we know to help with dog
and other animal behavior problems.
Lecture * video * demos * breakout sessions * practice problem solving using positive reinforcement solutions.
We have many positive reinforcement tools to use for behavior problems and each case is just a little different. There are many similarities in solutions to behavior problems but we have to keep an open mind and use all the tools we have available. Controlling triggers and changing cues
through classical and operant conditioning will all be considered.
Prior knowledge of learning theory will be helpful. A good resource for this is Excel-Erated Learning by Pam Reid. Other suggested reading prior to seminar: Don’t Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor and For the Love of a Dog by Patricia McConnell.
CEU’s are approved for IAABC and applied for C-CPDT & KPA CTP

General Workshop Structure:
The Bailey-Farhoody Workshops are intensive and thorough introductions to applied behavior analysis. These Workshops are designed for professional animal trainers, teachers, training enthusiasts, and those wanting maximum performance from those they work with. The teaching methods and procedures used in these workshops are a behavioral technology directly applicable to any species and any circumstance for which behavior change is desired. This includes the teaching of: trainers of companion and working dogs, trainers of zoo animals, teacher of children in classrooms, teachers of those with special needs, supervisors of business and banking organizations, hospital and caretaking staff of institutions, and those seeking skills for self-improvement. Workshops are not designed for pet owners wishing simply to teach his or her dog good manners or parlor tricks.
The student-trainer should be prepared to invest the time and effort needed to master simple yet challenging exercises. The Workshops are at least 40 hours in length and are physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. Every Workshop is packed with information. Training activities are timed and demand intense focus. The Workshop format is a mixture of formal lectures, informal discussions, planning classes, and fast paced hands-on training periods. All Workshops assume that the students are there to learn and will accept the demands of tight scheduling, coaching others (critiquing), and being coached (critiqued) by others. A positive, constructive, learning environment is fostered and respect for all student-trainers, human and non-human is expected from all. Come prepared to change YOUR behavior.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Come prepared to change YOUR behavior.
