Clean Run Instructor Conference 2008

July 31 - August 3, 2008
Best Western Executive Plaza
Ann Arbor, MI

Please check back on this site for more details as they become available.

Produced by Clean Run and Dogs of Course

Let's face it, agility has come a long way from its modest roots as entertainment to keep spectators in their seats during intermission at the Crufts breed show. Courses are very demanding, training techniques are increasingly more sophisticated, competitions are now won by fractions of a second, trials are run in multiple rings, and participation has skyrocketed.  The demand on instructors to keep up with this growth as well as the demand for ideas to improve students' speed, Q rates, and consistency on course is enormous. The Clean Run Instructor Conference (CRIC) is designed to help you meet this demand. Modeled after other professional conferences, CRIC provides diverse programming for all levels of instructors through lecture, audio visual media, and live demonstrations.

If  you are looking for

  • Training plans for different levels of classes
  • Techniques for teaching and dealing with difficult human students
  • Creative solutions for dealing with problem dogs
  • Help balancing your curriculum for competitive students vs. recreational students who want to spend time with their dogs
  • Ways to build your agility business or hold on to your club instructors
  • Networking opportunities
  • Ideas for motivating your students and their dogs
  • Skills training ideas to improve handling
  • Problem-solving techniques and training methods to achieve obstacle proficiency

then the Clean Run Instructor Conference has what you need!

But don't feel left out if you're not an agility instructor. Many of daily sessions and the special evening program topic is of interest to any agility competitor who wants to improve their team's skills or who needs ideas for solving specific problems.

The conference is limited to 300 participants.

Conference CD

All attendees will receive a conference CD at registration. It contains: conference program, abstracts, outlines of the sessions, and biographies of each instructor. It will be available to registered participants 2 weeks before the conference so outlines can be printed out for note taking at the participants discretion.

Dog Attendance Policy

CRIC is a non-working educational conference. We don't suggest bringing your dog to the conference since classroom space is limited and we cannot offer crating space for participants' dogs. If you must bring your dog because you don't have other options, a well-behaved, quiet, and friendly dog is allowed to attend the conference sessions on a 4' leash if space permits. The participant is responsible for making sure the dog does not create distractions or disrupt the session. Aggressive, noisy, or disruptive dogs will be asked to leave and the owner will not be refunded if she/he misses the session or conference.

"Dogsitting" is available at Canine Sports Recreation Center. Check out the CSRC facility by going to their website http://www.caninesportsrec.com. For further information and reservations contact Debbie Harrison at deb@caninesportsrec.com

Participants who do not clean up after their dogs will be asked to remove their dog from the hotel property or leave the conference.
